The article focuses on the role of macrophytes in natural and man-made ecosystems of cooling ponds, specific features of
mutual influence of plants and NPP water supply systems. It is considered the degree of our knowledge about macrophytes,
and the need for monitoring and control of their condition in the cooling ponds of Ukraine.
